Snack Ideas

Co-op suggests that snack consist of three of the following four groups: fruits, vegetables, grains and proteins. Which three groups is totally up to you and your child. Co-op discourages the use of refined sugar and instead promotes more healthy choices. The following is just a brief list of suggestions, but feel free to be as creative as you like. There is also a proposed snack list on the bulletin board to help with ideas. Please note any allergies the children may have in your class or children who are vegetarians. This is posted in the kitchen.

Here are some proposed snack combinations to draw from also:

  • Bagels, Cream Cheese, Celery and Raisins
  • Banana Bread, Strawberries, Yogurt and Grapes
  • Tortillas, Salsa, String Cheese and Orange Slices
  • Popcorn, Applesauce, Broccoli/Carrots with Dip
  • Wheat Thins, Cheddar Cheese, Strawberries and Celery
  • Pumpkin Muffins, Carrots and Fruit Cocktail
  • Pita Bread, Bean Dip, Apples and Cantaloupe
  • PBJ Sandwiches, Clementine oranges and Carrots
  • Toasted Oats (Cheerios), Bananas and Milk
  • Pretzels, Blueberries, Carrots, Cherry Tomatoes and Dip
  • Saltines, Peanut Butter, Watermelon and Cucumber Slices
  • Zucchini Bread, Edamame(soy) Beans and Apples
  • Wheat Bread, Butter, Bananas and Strawberries
