Camp Co-Op will offer lots of fun this summer.

Children ages 3 through 8 years may attend two or four days per week for one, two or three sessions. Download the registration form.

The teachers plan many hands-on activities in art, nature, cooking, music, drama, and literature which can be explored at varying levels by children at different stages of development.

Each session has a theme, but there is always time for lots of free play, for reading a book in the shade, or for examining an interesting plant on our wonderful playground.

Camp Co-Op provides an exceptional experience for young children and offers a unique program that nurtures parents as well. The foundation of our program is direct parent involvement. In addition to a qualified teacher, three parents assist at camp each day on a rotating schedule. This provides an excellent adult/child ratio of 1:5 maximum.

Camp Co-Op is operated by Fayette Cooperating Nursery School and Kindergarten which was established in 1951. It is a non-profit, non-discriminatory, independent educational institution and licensed by the Kentucky's Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

FIRST SESSION-June 2-June 12
“Dinosaur Time”
9 am–12 Noon
Clays Mill Campus with Colleen Miller
Come to camp for “Dinosaur Time.” Immerse yourself in the world of dinosaurs. Paint a tyrannosaurus, measure dinosaur footprints, make charts and graphs, read about dinosaurs, and sing dinosaur songs. This session of Camp Co-op will be loaded with prehistoric fun!

SECOND SESSION-June 16-June 26
“Caring for Our World”
9 am–12 Noon
Clays Mill Campus with Stephanie Hamilton
Learn about animals and their habitats. Plant seeds and care for them. Recycle materials to use for arts and crafts. Cook nutritious recipes to sample at snack time, and make treats for our animal friends too! Have fun learning about “Caring for Our World!”

THIRD SESSION-July 7-July 17
“Super Science”
9 am–12 Noon
Clays Mill Campus with Peggy Hayes

Curious about electricity? Curious about chemicals? Curious about mixtures? Come to camp and explore! Use circuit boards and simple machines. Experiment with pipes. Paint with mixtures. Use chemicals in cooking. Read nature stories and find living creatures in the beautiful playground. Discover science everywhere at Camp Co-op!

Parental Work Commitment

How often parents assist at Camp Co-Op depends on how often their children attend and the size of the group. For example, you will assist once per session if you have one child attending twice a week (assuming that enrollment is at, or near, capacity). Parents can choose their camp work day(s) at the beginning of each session. We try to accommodate parents’ personal schedules, and parents frequently trade sibling care with one another on their camp workdays.

Camp Co-Op Teachers are on staff at the Fayette Cooperating Nursery School and Kindergarten.  They are sensitive to the needs of young children and are experienced in working with multi-age groups.
